Swift Current realtors show support for Saskabilities
The real estate team at Century 21 Accord Realty in Swift Current has continued their longtime support for Saskabilties with a donation towards program activities.
Owner and broker Elaine Dickie said it is actually a community donation, because the realtor team held a community garage sale.
“Different members of the public brought in donations and we looked after the garage sale, and sold the items that they brought in,” she mentioned. “So we’re really pleased at the community and really want to thank everybody for the donations they made and for the contribution to Saskabilities.”
The community garage sale took place on two Saturdays in September at their downtown office. The conference room was filled with donations and also overflowed onto the sidewalk. It happened on days when Market Square was taking place and lots of people were walking by.
The community garage sale raised $260 and a couple of market evaluations by realtor Kelsey Adam added another $200, resulting in a total donation of $460 to
Saskabilities Swift Current.
“Saskabilities is very needed in this community and all communities,” Dickie said. “We’re glad to be able to help them whenever we can and we do throughout the year help Saskabilities and different organizations. We like to give back to the community.”
The Century 21 Accord Realty team will do various things to raise funds. They have participated in the Saskabilities Ability Bowl and also held a garage sale before. They have done hot dog sales, hot chocolate sales as well as a pie and coffee fundraiser in the past.
Jenny Dyck, the community relations coordinator at the Saskabilities Swift Current branch, expressed appreciation for the donation.
“We’re incredibly grateful,” she said. “Century 21 has always been such wonderful community partners. They’re always coming out and supporting Saskabilities. We just couldn’t be more grateful.”
This donation will help to support recreational programs offered by Saskabilities. These programs provide youth and children experiencing disability with opportunities to participate in various outdoor and group recreational activities such as Summer Fun, Social Leisure Youth Program and Camp Easter Seal.
