Monday, November 13, 2023 at the age of 92, Marie Rempel of Swift Current left this world to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Marie was born on July 26, 1931 to Gehrhardt & Sarah Rempel and raised with her thirteen siblings on an acreage in Rosenhof, SK. On Sunday’s, she and several siblings attended the Wymark EMC church, where her faith began. Marie later attended the Steinbach Bible Institute in Steinbach, MB before moving to Swift Current, where she worked as a housekeepe­r at a motel. Marie was involved in the community and volunteere­d regularly at the MCC store. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, stitching, games, and puzzles. After retirement, she moved to the Bentley where she lived for four and a half years, allowing her to live near her sisters, Marg and Chris. Days before her passing, with her sisters by her side, Marie whispered that she had seen Jesus with a group of angels, and they were singing “Oh, What a Wonderful Day, What a Wonderful Day.” She was looking forward to heaven. Marie is survived by her four sisters, Sarah Wiebe, Susan Neufeld, Margaret (Phillip) Schlamp, and Chris Neufeld; and by many nieces and nephews. Marie was predecease­d by her parents; nine siblings; and nine brothers and sisters-in-law. Marie’s family would like to thank the Bently for their support and the Cypress Hills Regional Hospital staff for their perfect care. The Funeral Service for Marie Rempel was held on Monday, November 20, 2023 at 2:00 pm from East Side Church of God, Swift Current, SK with Pastor Kevin Snyder officiatin­g. “What a Wonderful Day,” “Where the Roses Never Fade,” “I’ll Fly Away,” and “I Will Meet You in the Morning” were sung by the congregati­on under the leadership of Heather Wiens, with Rhonda Whittman serving as pianist. The tribute was given by Cosette Neufeld. The service was recorded and will be available to view on the funeral home website, as is the service card. The ushers in the church were Harry Wiebe and Jake Martens. The Interment Service was held prior to the Funeral Service from Hillcrest Cemetery, Swift Current, SK with Brad Giesbrecht, Daryl Taylor, Nick Giesbrecht, Corvyn Neufeld, Jessica Janzen, and Avery Neufeld serving as Pallbearer­s. In memory of Marie Rempel, donations made to Operation Christmas Child would be appreciate­d by the family. Funeral arrangemen­ts were in care of Swift Current Funeral Home, Swift Current, SK.
