U18 AAA Wildcats lose on the road and win at home

The Swift Current Innovation Federal Credit Union Wildcats lost on the road and won at home in the Saskatchew­an Female U18 AAA Hockey League last week.

Tuesday, the Wildcats lost 5-3 to the host Notre Dame Hounds. The

Hounds scored twice on the power play, while the Wildcats finished zerofor-five on the man-advantage.

Kyla Benjamin, Dior Stringer, and Evangeline

Hill scored in a losing cause. Alexie Palchinski had two assists, while Benjamin and Kaylee Williams added single helpers.

Jordyn Ottenbreit made six saves on nine shots over one period of work. Paige Fischer was tagged with the loss after making 22 saves on 24 shots over 39:27.

Shay Camphaug made 32 saves for the Hounds. Kiara Perrett led the Hounds with two goals and one assist. Sasha

Malenfant, Eden Carius, and Kate Williams also scored.

Saturday, the Wildcats responded with a 2-1 win over the visiting Prince Albert Northern Bears.

The Bears scored an early goal from Mikiya Anderson to take the lead.

Raela Packet replied for the Wildcats with a second-period goal to tie the game. Cassidy Peters scored with 2:11 remaining in regulation to lift the Wildcats to the win.

Fischer made 17 saves to improve to 4-5-0 for the Wildcats. Annika Neufeldt made 38 saves in a losing cause.

Benjamin, Peters, Packet, and Amiyah Jones all earned assists for the Wildcats.

The Wildcats improved to 4-5-1-2, while Prince Albert fell to 2-7-0-1.

The Wildcats will meet the first-place Saskatoon Stars in Rosetown on Saturday. They will host the Stars on Sunday at 1 p.m. at S3 West Arena.
