August 3, 1921 – November 4, 2023

Ole Severson (Dad) passed away on November 4, 2023 at the Cypress Regional Hospital at the age of 102! He is survived by his three children: Barry (Lynn) Severson, Gary (Gladys) Severson, and Margo (Ernest) Carlson. Also seven grandchildren: Kirk (Kathy) Severson, Mary Lynn (Randy) Augustine, Allyn (Stephania) Severson, Leslie (Lisa) Severson, David (Debbie) Severson, Vincent Severson, Michelle (Ted) Smith, and numerous great grandchildren; sister-in-law Geraldine Rya; and several nieces and nephews. Dad was predeceased by his parents Peter and Carrie Severson; his wife Irene in 1990; sister Gladys Wright; Irene’s parents Eugene and Bada Freeman; brothers and sister-in-laws, and a niece and nephew. Dad was born on the family farm on August 3, 1921. He went to Scotia School completing his grade 11 in 1938. He started farming with his Dad (Peter) and continued on until retiring in 1977. He married Irene (Freeman) in 1942 and raised three children on the farm. During those years he was always involved in the community and helping neighbours. In 1978 Dad and Mom moved to a new home in Swift Current and Dad remained there until one month before his passing on November 4. He met several new friends and became involved in many activities and socializing with them. Curling, golfing, horse shoes, shuffle board and dancing to name a few. Having coffee at the park with his friends was always a highlight for Dad. Dad met Alice Phaneuf and they became very good friends for several years until Alice’s passing in 2018. Ron (Alice’s son) and Eunice have always been a part of Dad’s life after he met Alice. They faithfully visited Dad every weekend and were very helpful in many ways. He always looked forward to their visits. A few things about Dad: he was always very well respected, he had high morals and good mottos in life. If something needed fixing Dad could and would fix it. On his 80th birthday he rode a bicycle backwards!! He also had a driver’s license until his passing. The family is very grateful for all the visits Dad had from family and friends. Special mention to Ron and Eunice and Kathy! Also thanks for the condolences, flowers phone calls and messages. A private family service will be held at a later date. Donations may be made to Cypress House, The Meadows, or charity of your choice. Arrangements entrusted to Warren's Funeral Home.
