The Broncos built up a 3-1 lead in the first period on goals from Tyson Laventure, Birnie, and Maddix Mccagherty, while Marshall Finnie replied for the home team.

Filmon added to the lead early in the second period and defenseman Zach Turner quickly chipped in with his first WHL goal from well inside his defensive zone. Marc Lajoie and Ty Nash replied late in the period to keep the Oil Kings within striking distance.
