LEITCH-WILLIAMSON

-

Lois Leitch-williamson (nee Miller), age 97, passed away peacefully with family by her side on Saturday, December 9, 2023 at Clover House, Swift Current, SK. Lois Phoebe Leitch-williamson was born February 27, 1926 in Prince Albert, SK and raised on a farm in Shellbrook, SK — the only daughter to Fay & Mildred Miller — and a self-sufficient child of the Great Depression. She attended the University of Saskatchewan from 1944 – 1948, where she attained a BSC to become a medical laboratory technologist. Lois passed the American qualification exam and worked on the front lines of the polio epidemic in hospitals in Oregon and Michigan. She returned to Saskatchewan in 1953 and married Ken Leitch. They moved to Swift Current in 1959, when Ken became a partner in Swift Litho Printing. Lois was a happy stay-at-home mom, raising her five children but in 1974, she opened a new travel agency — Swift Travel. She studied just as hard as she had for her first career and embarked on a rewarding business that included many travel adventures. Lois lived an incredibly vibrant life. She spent 28 enjoyable winters in Texas with her second husband, George Williamson, and embraced all new situations with humour, positivity, and trust that she would soon meet her new best friends. She was outgoing and engaging — even in the last days of her life, she was making connections and entertaining people with her stories. She radiated love, acceptance, and positivity. Lois was the most optimistic and accepting person any of us have ever known. Lois was predeceased by both of her husbands, Ken Leitch and George Williamson; her son, Rick; her grandson, Chris; and by her beloved brothers, Alan and Gordon. Lois is survived by her children, Sandy (Art Kelley), Joanne (Colin Goldstone), Michael, Margie (Norm Gowan); her daughter-in-law, Irene; her eleven grandchildren; her five great-grandchildren; and by many nieces and nephews. A service will be held at a later date and service details will be announced. In memory of Lois Leitch-williamson, donations made to the WA WA Shrine Patient Transportation Fund (2065 Hamilton Street, Regina, SK, S4P 2E1) or a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family. Funeral arrangements were in care of Swift Current Funeral Home, Swift Current, SK.
