SES Solar Co-operative expands CNH Industrial solar array, Eatonia site involved

A CNH Industrial site in the Canadian province of Saskatchewan is now home to another 718 solar panels. CNH Industrial has once again partnered with SES Solar Coop to increase the size of their solar installation in Saskatoon.
Phase Two has roughly doubled the energy production on-site. The combined solar array provides approximately 12% of the electricity needed by the plant while reducing the Greenhouse Gas emissions by an additional 300 tonnes annually for CNH Industrial.
The solar array continues to be a ‘behind the meter’ installation whereby the electricity produced is only used on site by CNH Industrial. Salt & Light Energy Ltd. installed the new system; construction began in August 2023 and production came online on Nov. 3, 2023. Salt and Light is a solar energy equipment supplier based in Eatonia,. Founded in 2015, they work on projects large and small for residential, commercial, agricultural and industrial applications.
With this expansion, the CNH Industrial solar array will once again be the largest urban installation in Saskatchewan with an anticipated production of 1,035,000 kwh annually. “Sustainability initiatives are embedded in all areas of CNH Industrial’s business. We have set key targets to align with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals, one of those being climate action.” says Jason Hartman, CNH Industrial, Saskatoon plant manager. “Being able to generate some of the electricity needed at our site from a zero-carbon-emission energy source is another step in the right direction.”
The panels purchased for the Solar Co-op’s newest project will generate a return for SES Solar Co-op shareholders through lease payments from CNH Industrial.
Solar Co-op investors can see their dollars at work along 71st Street. Being a member of the SES Solar Co-op means individuals are directly contributing to the expansion of renewable energy development in Saskatchewan.
“To enjoy the potential from zero emission renewable energy, it is incumbent upon all of us to participate in proven methods of producing electricity to minimize the release of greenhouse gases. The SES Solar Co-operative has, as its mandate, the potential to play a significant role in providing one source of renewable energy to add to the transition away from fossil fuels. We are uniquely, geographically positioned to efficiently produce solar generated energy, build a positive effort to minimize emissions and leverage community investment, now and for those that follow.” says SES Solar Co-op President, Rod Johnson.
The SES Solar Co-op invites the community to invest in this solar development and others by purchasing preferred shares in their ongoing share offering. Solar technology is now rivaling its non-renewable counterparts. By harnessing the potential of solar, SES Solar Co-op’s projects create a sustainable energy source, offset greenhouse gas emissions from fossil fuel generated electricity, and provide a return on investment – all at the same time.
