Legionnaires split at home and on the road
The Swift Current Home Hardware Legionnaires split four games in the Saskatchewan Male U18 AAA Hockey League last week.
Tuesday, the Legionnaires doubled up on the Tisdale Trojans 6-3 in a penalty filled game.
Jace Egland led the Legionnaires with three goals and one assist, while Wesley Olson added one goal and two assists. Triston Mitchell-mcelhone registered one goal and one assist and Connor Rieger had a two-assist outing.
Mason Osinski also scored. Parker Rondeau, Jackson Fox, Mason Fauser, Griffin Darby, and Kade Stringer all added assists. Jacob Morris made 29 saves on 32 shots in the win.
The Legionnaires dropped the rematch 7-4 on Wednesday in Gull Lake. Jackson Dunn made 40 saves to lead the Trojans to victory.
Olson scored twice for the Legionnaires, followed by singles from Osinski and Fox. Rieger added two assists, while Riley Moberg, Will Kirwan, Keegan Nash, Fauser, Egland, and Mitchell-mcelhone added single assists. Berney Weston took the loss with 32 saves.
Saturday, the Legionnaires scored three unanswered goals to defeat the host Warman Wildcats.
Rondeau and Stringer each finished with one goal and one assist, while Sam Kirwan registered two assists. Mitchell-mcelhone also scored, while
Egland picked up one assist. Weston made 39 saves on 40 shots in the win. Corben Schnurr took the loss with 23 saves on 26 shots.
Sunday, the Legionnaires dropped the rematch 3-2. Fox scored both goals with an assist from Will Kirwan. Weston made 19 saves on 21 shots over 42:15. Morris made eight saves on nine shots over 17:45.
Trey Markus scored twice for Warman, while Kaleb Dewar added a single. Schnurr made 23 saves in the win.
The Legionnaires finished the weekend with a 20-7-3 record.
The Legionnaires will host the Notre Dame Hounds on Thursday at 7:15 p.m. They Legionnaires will also visit the Saskatoon Contacts on Saturday and Sunday.
