FURSETH Obituaries

Leslie Arne Furseth of Abbey, SK passed away December 29, 2023 at the age of 77. He was born January 11, 1946 to Grace (Bull) and Arne Furseth at Elrose, SK. He grew up in the Sanctuary area where he went to school till grade 9. He enjoyed playing hockey, working with cattle and horses. Many miles were traveled to socialize in Beechy, White Bear, Clearwater Lake, and Kyle. His family billeted a Police Officer at the local detachment so, you know Leslie and his friends behaved like angels. Enjoyment was had driving his parents to square dancing. Family gatherings with Aunts, Uncles and their families created memorable relationships. Leslie started working at the young age of 16 as a heavy equipment operator which would become his major occupation throughout his life. Along with his brothers Bert and Terry they ran a dairy farm in the Rush Lake area. There was not an old western movie Leslie could not recite the words to, just like his brothers Bert and Terry. Leslie loved driving a team of horses in chuck wagon races and memories made along the way. Leslie got his 1A license to drive semis for deliveries. Leslie became a family man when he married Patricia, raising his children James, Dallas and Leann. Road construction brought Leslie to Abbey his first time to work for the RM of Miry Creek. Leslie moved to White Bear and married Cheryl, and was blessed with a son, Wyatt. His career took them to Hodgeville he worked for the RM of Lawtonia building roads. Later, accepting a Foreman position found Les moving to Abbey with Sherri and her kids Michael, Kevin, Jennifer and Kimberly. Soon Stephanie was born and Wyatt eventually joined the crew. Leslie loved his children deeply; he was amazed by James’ woodworking talents and his and Janet’s love for their dogs. Endless miles were traveled during Dallas’ rodeo career and he cherished the smile on Dallas’ face when he talked about his son Justin. Leann is an accomplished hairdresser and raised a beautiful family with her husband Keith. Hours were spent chatting with Wyatt about hunting and his jeep; Stephanie’s passion for horses but she had to ride “properly” and helping Jesse with his singing career. Leslie's heart was crushed with the loss of son Dallas in 2020. Leslie enjoyed watching his grandkids play many sports including Justin in football, Keeley’s joy with her horses and volleyball. Some of Leslie's passions in the Abbey community was being part of a very large and active Legion, committee member of the Sandhills Rodeo Club, a counselor for the Village of Abbey and helping out whenever he could with Sherri by his side. His morning trips to coffee row were high on his priorities. His contribution to the community will sadly be missed. Leslie leaves to mourn his partner Sherri; sons James (Janet) and Wyatt; daughters Leann Halvorson (Keith) and Stephanie Furseth-doll (Jesse Gensorek); grandchildren Justin Furseth (Katie), Lars (Cailen and great granddaughter Hadilyn), Levi, and Keeley Halvorson, Bryar and Sutten Gensorek; brother Bert (Gayleen) Furseth, and niece Josie; brother Terry Furseth and nieces Laura Jans (Bryce and Kyptan, Kaelyn and Kolt), Sarah Furseth (Justin and Gabriel, Dominique and Wilder). Sherri’s daughters; Jennifer Zacharias (Kendal, Carter and Ava), Kimberly Smith (Zach and Sawyer). Leslie was predeceased by his parents Arne and Grace Furseth; son Clinton in 1986, son Dallas in 2020; sister-in-law Carla, nephew Merritt. Arrangements entrusted to Warren's Funeral Home.
