It is with deep sadness the family of Donald Fleck announces his passing on February 11th, 2024, at the age of 87. He passed away peacefully at The Meadows Senior Citizen Center with his family by his side. He was born in Maple Creek, Saskatchewan on June 11th, 1936. He was one of three children born to Tony and Helen Fleck. Don grew up on the family farm near Richmound, Saskatchewan and attended school at Haverhill, being paid to stoke the fires each morning before the other children arrived. He continued his education at the Oasis School in Richmound completing his grade twelve. This is where he met the love of his life, Magdalena Fauth. They married on July 15th, 1957. Together they started raising their family of five children. Don was a man of many talents and had a strong work ethic, readily extending a helping hand to those in need. Shortly after graduating he got a job in Richmound with Imperial Oil delivering fuel. Then he and Maggie worked as custodians at the Richmound School for several years. He then acquired a job with the Patterson Grain Company as a grain buyer. In November of 1969, he was transferred to Findlater where he continued to be employed by Patterson Grain. In September of 1973, the family moved to Mankota, Saskatchewan where Don was employed as an agent of Imperial Oil once again, delivering bulk fuel. He stayed in this position until 1989 when he retired. Although Don had many occupations, his first love was always farming. With the help of his dad, he was able to farm land in Richmound as well as eventually buying and farming land in the Mankota area. He also loved to work with his hands and was a skilled carpenter and woodworker. From remodelling every house he lived in, to making miniature replicas of model T cars, tractors, horse and carriages, he took pride in every timeless project he completed. He also made birdhouses and benches out of reclaimed barn wood that he lovingly gifted to his children and grandchildren. His latest accomplishment was completing a replication of the Eaton’s House that his grandfather purchased and built in 1916. The original house still stands on the family farm today. He was actively involved in every community that he lived in. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Lions Club, school board, and on the parish council. He enjoyed bowling, curling, dancing, playing cards, camping, and socializing with family and friends. After retirement, Don and Maggie sold their acreage in Mankota, and moved to Swift Current in 2003. Here they made many new friends through their continued involvement in bowling, dancing, camping, church, also joining the Swift Current Square Dance Club and Pioneer Good Sams. With his health failing, Don became a resident of The

Meadows in June of 2023. He received the best of care and was well loved by the staff who appreciated and enjoyed his sense of humour. Through the good days and bad his care never wavered and the family can not express their gratitude for the loving care he received. Don was predeceased by his parents, Tony and Helen Fleck. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 66 years Magdalena (Fauth) and his five children - Debbie (Darrell) Cupples, Donnalee (Mervin) Selensky, Joan (Lionel) Stengler, Duane (Jeanette)fleck, Sandra (Jeff) Ziegler; 13 grandchildren - Cory (Madanna) Cupples, Shaun (Lindsay) Cupples, Devin (Jodi) Cupples, Shauna (Leif) Gavelin, Sheldon Selensky, Justin Selensky, Kristin (Lonny) King, Blair (Kailyn) Stengler, Jessica (Rob Rolufs) Fleck, Allsion (Jessie) Wagner, Tristan (Leela Denney) Fleck, Chelsea Ziegler Kielman (Spencer), Kaylynn (Greg Rousseaux) Ziegler, Kyle (Samantha James) Ziegler; 16 “greats”- Cayden, Chase, Cassidy, Caleb, Bodie, Sophie, Alysha, Sierra, Brynlee, Brodyn, Adelyn, Mya, Asher, Finn, Bennett, Vincent; step grandchildren - Nathan, Sheldon and Shannon and families; brother Richard (Shirl) Fleck, sister Mona (Phil) Baron, and numerous nieces and nephews.
