Southwest Facility Foundation pushes forward despite Aquatic Centre news disappointment
The Southwest Facility Foundation officially launched in April of 2023 with a fundraising goal of $8,000,000 (8 million) to help support the construction of new sport, leisure, and recreational facilities in the Southwest. Recently, it was learned the City of Swift Current was not successful in the Green and Inclusive Community Building Grant for $25 million dollars.
The Foundation would like to affirm that the intent of the Southwest Facility Foundation continues to be to prepare and assist the City in any and all Provincial or Federal funding applications in support of future recreational facility construction decisions made by City Council.
“Although we are disappointed in the current grant application announcement, we can use this adversity to come out stronger in our next bid for government grants in support of our community.” explains Sasha Godenir, Southwest Facility Foundation Chair. “Our team has made great strides in support of financial assistance for builds of this nature and moving forward the Foundation will continue to work diligently to assist in the financial leadership required for new recreational facilities in our community. We are confident with the recent momentum from the Foundation that our future grant applications will be even stronger thanks to our efforts. We believe “It Is Time To Build “and together we can foster and begin to get the wheels in motion to ensure that all levels of government invest in our community and build facilities to enhance recreational, health and sport services for many generations to come. “
