Legionnair­es conclude regular season with busy week

The Swift Current Home Hardware Legionnair­es played four games last week to conclude the Saskatchew­an Male U18 AAA Hockey League regular season.

Tuesday, the Legionnair­es lost 3-1 to the host Saskatoon Blazers. Parker Rondeau scored the lone goal, an unassisted marker to open the scoring in the first period.

The Blazers scored all three goals in the second period, beginning with a Cohen Harris goal. Copper Ernewein scored the final two goals 2:29 apart.

Berney Weston took the loss despite making 38 saves. Grayson Malinoski made 20 saves for the Blazers.

Wednesday, the Legionnair­es dropped the rematch 8-3 after allowing the first six goals over the opening two periods. Shurgot led the Blazers with three goals and two assists, followed by three goals and one assist from Dayne Beuker. Madex Kabrud made 31 saves for the Blazers.

Jackson Fox led the Legionnair­es with one goal and two assists. Will Kirwan and Triston Mitchell-mcelhone also scored. Rondeau, Keegan Nash,

and Wesley Olson all added assists.

Jacob Morris allowed seven goals on 23 shots over 48:08. Weston made 13 saves on 14 shots over 11:52 of work.

Saturday, the Legionnair­es scored three unanswered goals in the

third period to defeat the visiting Estevan Bears 4-1. Weston earned the win with 27 saves.

Jace Egland scored twice, while Mason Fauser and Kayd Ruedig both had two-assist outings.

Darby also scored. Rondeau, Trae Lees, and Mitchell-mcelhone all added assists.

Marc Belanger scored the lone goal for Estevan.

Sunday, the Legionnair­es lost 7-2 to the Bears to conclude the regular season. Darby

and Jackson Fox scored with assists from Sam Kirwan, Rondeau, and Egland. Weston made 22 saves in the loss.

Gunner Moore scored twice for Estevan, followed by singles from Carter Onrait, Cooper Flath, Kobe Wotta, Belanger,

and Jase Mcnichol. Kaden Perron led the Bears with 35 saves.

The Legionnair­es finished fourth in the league with a 26-15-3 record and will now face the Prince Albert Mintos in the opening round of the playoffs.
