U15 AA Broncos advance in playoffs

The Swift Current Pure Chem Broncos won four games last week as they wrapped up the Saskatchew­an U15 AA Hockey League regular season and opened the playoffs as well.

Tuesday, the Broncos skated to a 9-0 win over the host Moose Jaw Warriors when Josh Benjamin made 24 saves in the shutout.

Carter Moen and Casey Gleim both recorded hat tricks, while Jaxson Squires and Finn Gustafson both registered one goal and two assists. Dane Irwin also scored. Hunter Wilm and Kadyn Olfert each had two assists. Tysen Kobley and Jamie Kirwan added single helpers.

Thursday, they closed out the regular season with a 6-3 win over the host Regina Aces despite trailing 3-1 in the second period. Jake Hargrave led the way with two goals and two assists. Juris Busse added three assists. Squires scored twice, while Wilm and Moen each had one goal and one assist.

Gleim and Kobley both registered two assists and Kirwan added one assist. Cade Mitchell earned the win with 22 saves.

Saturday, the Broncos opened the playoffs with an 8-1 win over the Regina Monarchs in Gull Lake.

Moen paced the Broncos with two goals and two assists. Busse finished with two goals and one assist, while Squires and Kirwan both contribute­d one goal and two assists. Gleim added one goal and one assist and Phil Lewans also scored.

Wilm registered three assists, followed by singles from Kyler Duclos, Seth Watson, and Hargrave. Mitchell made 21 saves in the win.

Sunday, the Broncos finished off the series with an 8-0 win over the host Monarchs. Gleim led the way with two goals and two assists and Busse added two goals and one assist. Wilm and Gustafson each registered a goal and an assist, while Squires had a two-assist outing. Kirwan and Irwin also scored. Moen, Lewans, Watson, and Hargrave all added assists as Benjamin earned the 13-save shutout.
