SUBMITTED BY LEGION NO. 56

Royal Canadian Legion Branch No. 56 Swift Current is pleased to report a very successful 2023 Poppy Campaign. This past year’s campaign raised a total of $34,565.40, an increase of $4,357 from last year’s campaign.

RCL Branch 56 would like to thank all those who donated to this past year’s campaign and the volunteers and Legion staff who worked tirelessly to make the campaign the success it was.

In addition, RCL Branch 56 would like to thank all the businesses and locations that allowed us to have poppy trays at their locations. We are ever-grateful for their kindness and generosity.

The Poppy Campaign: The Poppy Campaign is a yearly campaign ran by the Royal Canadian Legion, running from the last Friday of October until the 11th of November.

Canadians across the country wear a Poppy as a visual pledge to honour Canada’s veterans and to remember the fallen who gave their lives while serving our country.

While Poppies are distributed freely to all Canadians who wish to wear one, the Royal Canadian Legion does accept donations to the Poppy Fund.

The Poppy Campaign is a local initiative and is conducted by Legion Branches in cities, towns, and communities from coast to coast.

All donations that are collected during the campaign are held in trust at the Branch level and the funds are used to directly support veterans and their families within the community and to help ensure that Canadian’s never forget the service and sacrifices made by our veterans. The yearly campaign would not happen without the efforts of the Legionaries who volunteer countless hours to help distribute poppies to their communities.

The volunteers are the backbone of the campaign.

In addition, the Legion is ever grateful for the efforts and support of the various partners at both the local and national level, who welcome our members and the Poppy Boxes into their locations and businesses.
