Agriculture community comes through for Southwest Facility Foundation

- SUBMITTED

The Southwest Facility Foundation is very excited to announce our first ag-community commitment from Ken and Christine Newton, in the amount of $25,000.

Newton Family Farms’ commitment takes the Foundation to $950,000 committed in support of future recreation facility decisions made by City Council.

“Ken and Christine are retired farmers from Swift Current and have raised their family in Swift Current. Sports and recreation were always extremely important to them and their family. They recognize the need in Swift Current for these new recreation facilities like a pool and indoor field house, for not only their grandchildren but all residents of Swift Current,” explained Travis Cuthbert, Southwest Facility Foundation Board Member.

“We appreciate their leadership in contacting us to make this very important contribution to the growth of our city! We’re really excited to see this support from the ag community and

the Southwest, who will all benefit from these new facilities.”

Along with fundraising, part of the Foundation’s mission is to share and educate the community about the need, importance, and benefits of new recreation facilities in Swift Current.

New facilities provide much-needed space for residents of all ages to gather and participate in a variety of recreational activities, fostering a healthy and active community.

New facilities would service and benefit the entire Southwest community by improving the quality of life and boosting tourism, economic activity, and future growth for Southwest Saskatchewan.

The City of Swift Current continues to leverage and lobby all levels of government for their assistance and support of future projects, and apply for any applicable funding and grants.
