Man charged with theft

A 53-year-old St. Thomas man is charged with steal­ing from two stores and a con­struc­tion site. The man was ar­rested Mon­day af­ter he was stopped for driv­ing with­out a li­cence, po­lice said. Of­fi­cers were look­ing for the man af­ter he was recorded on store se­cu­rity video shoplift­ing at Wal­mart and the Real Cana­dian Su­per­store. The man was also recorded re­turn­ing new mer­chan­dise he stole from a con­struc­tion site to a lo­cal hard­ware store, po­lice said. The man is charged with two counts of op­er­at­ing a ve­hi­cle while pro­hib­ited, driv­ing while sus­pended, driv­ing with­out a li­cence, two counts of theft un­der $5,000, pos­ses­sion of stolen prop­erty and traf­fick­ing in stolen prop­erty.
