Sidney Crosby and the Trailer Park Boys in the Pittsburgh Penguins locker room after a Dec. 4 game. HALIFAX—Let’s raise a glass to this unlikely friendship.

On Tuesday night in Pittsburgh, Penguins superstar Sidney Crosby welcomed some fellow Nova Scotians into the team’s dressing room: the Trailer Park Boys, along with beloved Sunnyvale Trailer Park assistant supervisor Randy.

“It was really special. It was awesome,” said Robb Wells, who plays the character Ricky in the hit series, in a phone interview on Wednesday.

Bubbles, also known as Mike Smith, posted a photo of the Boys meeting No. 87 after the game against the Colorado Avalanche.

“Look who I found in the @Penguins locker room!!” wrote @mikesmithbubbles on Twitter.

Crosby’s Penguins won 6-3 over fellow Cole Harbour star Nathan MacKinnon and the Avalanche. The Trailer Park Boys are currently doing a stage tour south of the border, and Crosby hooked the boys and their crew up with 10 tickets for Tuesday’s game.

Wells and John Paul Tremblay, who plays the character Julian, are also from Cole Harbour, N.S. and have met the Penguins captain at various times over the years.

“We’ve been to another game down there and saw him a couple of times in Halifax,” Wells said.

“It was a weird coincidence we were all there that night,” Wells explained.

“We were just goofing around, basically,” Tremblay added when asked what they talked about with Crosby.

Bubbles’ Twitter feed was the talk of the town on Wednesday. The tweet had been shared more than 2,600 times and liked more than 9,300 times by Wednesday afternoon.

“Pride of Nova Scotia right there ... and an OK Hockey player,” replied Twitter user @hooves04 to the post.

“Most Nova Scotia thing ever!!!” said Twitter user @AllenGalley.
