Ryan Jimmo’s mother could barely hold back tears as she re­cited a line from her son’s favourite child­hood book, Love You Forever by Robert Mun­sch. “I’ll love you forever, I’ll like you for al­ways, as long as I’m liv­ing my baby you’ll be,” read Linda Jimmo, as fam­ily mem­bers gath­ered in the gallery sobbed and leaned on each other for sup­port in an Ed­mon­ton court­room on Mon­day.

Anthony Getschel, 26, will serve nearly eight years be­hind bars af­ter ear­lier plead­ing guilty to man­slaugh­ter and flee­ing the scene of a fa­tal col­li­sion, ad­mit­ting to hit­ting Jimmo with his truck out­side of an Ed­mon­ton bar in 2016. Full story at thes­tar.com/ed­mon­ton
