A young boy has escaped without injury after getting his head stuck on a Halifax ferry Thursday morning.
Halifax Transit spokesperson Nick Ritcey said the 7year-old boy got his head WWW.THESTAR.COM
stuck between the railing on the upper deck of the ferry and what’s called a mooring bitt — the post used to tie the ferry to the dock. The boy was travelling with his grandmother.
Firefighters and paramedics were called to the scene to extricate the boy’s head from the ferry.
“Fire and EHS responded and they got him out safe and sound,” Ritcey said. “I don’t know how, I just know that he’s out and EHS cleared him of any injuries.”
The 10:45 a.m. ferry trip from Halifax to Dartmouth on the Viola Desmond was delayed due to the mishap.
