Boy res­cued af­ter get­ting head stuck be­tween rail­ing and post on ferry

A young boy has es­caped with­out in­jury af­ter get­ting his head stuck on a Hal­i­fax ferry Thurs­day morn­ing.

stuck be­tween the rail­ing on the up­per deck of the ferry and what’s called a moor­ing bitt — the post used to tie the ferry to the dock. The boy was trav­el­ling with his grand­mother.

Fire­fight­ers and paramedics were called to the scene to ex­tri­cate the boy’s head from the ferry.

“Fire and EHS re­sponded and they got him out safe and sound,” Ritcey said. “I don’t know how, I just know that he’s out and EHS cleared him of any in­juries.”

The 10:45 a.m. ferry trip from Hal­i­fax to Dart­mouth on the Vi­ola Des­mond was de­layed due to the mishap.
