BATTLE AT ’BAMA 2017
DUKING IT OUT IN MOBILE
Duking it out in Mobile
THE GULF COAST is no stranger to car and truck shows both small and large, but lately, we’re seeing more and more new events popping up. Battle in Bama is one of them, and it’s definitely one that shouldn’t be missed. The show started in 2016, and even though it rained pretty heavily that first year, it was a huge success. Craig Rowley and his crew must’ve spent all year working some serious juju because the weather for this year’s event was perfect.
The show is held at the USS Alabama Battleship Memorial Park, and you can’t help but notice the battleship and other amazing historical artifacts throughout the grounds. The battleship is the site of a pre-party where guests are welcomed on the bow of the ship and treated to music, delicious tacos and tours. The party was capped off by a stunning view of the fireworks in downtown Mobile, Alabama.
The show was a great success, with more than 700 entries from all over the country. Two words could describe the show, “variety” and “quality.” From full-blown show trucks to laidout diesels and the highest 4x4s around, Battle in Bama had it all. An array of some of the finest trophies we’ve ever seen was offered to reward these amazing rides. Custom-painted surfboards, skateboards, handmade, bead-rolled and framed metal artwork, and custom Plexiglas awards were all up for grabs. Craig and his crew know how to host an event because they’ve been attending shows themselves for years, and now they’re giving back to the scene in a big way.
Huge thanks go out to the show’s title sponsor, Metal Brothers Hot Rods, and cosponsor, Sparkles Detail. Make sure you keep an eye out for the 2018 event.
