A bright organized space keeps laundry in check for a couple of frequent travellers

“WE WANTED TO MAKE IT FUN AND INVITING, WHILE ALSO BUILDING IN LOTS OF FUNCTION AND STORAGE.”

1 LOCATION, LOCATION

The 100-square-foot laundry room is located on the main level of this Steinbach, Man., home. It’s right at the back entrance, which the homeowners use every day. Since the kitchen is adjacent, the cabinetry and countertop styles and materials are identical in the two spaces. 2 CLOUD COVER The dramatic wallpaper “brings pattern, drama and a touch of fun” to the hardworking room, says designer Jaclyn Peters. “We wanted to make the space playful and inviting, while also building in lots of function and storage.”

3 CONTAINED CHAOS

To create order, plenty of built-in cabinets store cleaning essentials and other household supplies. A small utility sink is a useful addition for tasks like handwashing delicates and removing tough stains.

4 TOP SHELF

Floating wooden shelves display canisters and baskets, adding more storage as well as warmth and texture to the predominantly grey, black and white room.

5 BRIGHTER DAYS

Reinforcing the room’s bright clean vibe, a white washer and dryer set looks seamless against the white cabinetry.
