The urge to host a crowd is strong at this time of year, so it’s a good thing I’ll take any excuse to bust out my party platters, uncork a bottle of bubbly and open my doors to friends and family. At Style at Home, too, we love to celebrate any and all occasions and take pride in making sure every get-together – be it dinner for four or cocktails and hors d’oeuvres for 20 – looks polished and pretty, and has everyone yearning to do it again. With this in mind, we present “How to Be Party Perfect” ( page 37), seven pages jam-packed with beautiful inspiration and practical advice for throwing your best fete yet.

The inspiration continues in our featured interiors, which offer glimpses into how homeowners and designers celebrate with style. Designer Sophia Reay showcases a paredback natural look well-suited to her home’s wooded surroundings in “Gorgeous on the Gorge” (page 78), for example, while in “Holiday Geometry” ( page 86), designer Lisa Lev makes the case for a bright energetic Christmas scheme. And in “Season of Light” (page 92), photographer Stephanie Kretzschmer embraces her Danish roots and indulges in a simple and relaxed holiday environment. Our decorating section also offers brilliant festive ideas and projects to get your home ready to welcome visitors.

If you prefer playing guest, our annual gourmet gift guide ( page 22) features products with foodie flair, perfect for giving to your host with the most. However you choose to celebrate, here’s wishing you and yours all the best for a stylish holiday season and a joyful new year!
