COOKING UP TRENDS
CAESARSTONE DOESN’T FOLLOW TRENDS – it sets them. Before the company’s debut in 1987, kitchens worldwide settled for chip- and stain-prone stone or heat- and water-sensitive laminate counters. Boasting unmatched durability and able to mimick myriad surfaces, the brand’s innovative engineered quartz was an instant hit. Ever a trailblazer, Caesarstone pioneered environmental and sustainability standards and initiated an annual designer partnership. Who can forget the inimitable Tom Dixon’s monolith triangular installations or British-Canadian industrial designer Philippe Malouin’s quartz-topped swings? This year’s collaborator, Dutch designer Marije Vogelzang, brings a fresh perspective to current kitchen design. So what’s up for 2019? We can’t think of any source better than Caesarstone to fill us in on the latest trends.
ISLANDS THAT DO MORE
An island is the centrepiece of many a kitchen, as much because of its visual appeal as its functionality. From housing appliances to stashing trash-sorting stations, these features pack a practical punch. Expect to see even more souped-up islands, including ones with a dedicated dining area demarcated with contrasting counters in varying heights and materials.
WHITE WITH WOOD
Two-tone kitchens are nothing new, but recently the trend has been explored with fresh textures and colours – and this is something that will continue in 2019. Look out for lots of natural wood juxtaposed with bright whites. Paired together, these finishes feel indulgent yet soothing.
NO HARDWARE
Minimalism still reigns supreme, and nothing busies up a space like exposed hardware. Touch-latch drawers and recessed pulls promise to gain popularity. The clean look hints at custom millwork while allowing standout finishes to shine.
