Now TV

Highly commended at this year’s T3 Awards, Now TV is one of our long-term faves. Like Netflix it’s the one to get started with. Choose from one of four passes - Entertainment, Sky Cinema, Kids, Sky Sports - or grab all four and settle in for all the TV, film, sports and Peppa Pig mayhem you could want from a streaming service.

Amazon Instant Video

An improved user interface and a greater array of original content helped Amazon Instant Video find its feet this year. Hit shows like

American Gods and Preacher attracted new customers in their droves. There’s also more choice in how you watch and pay for content – either subscriptions or on-demand viewing.

Apple iTunes

There’s no subscription service at this point, but that doesn’t stop iTunes from being a robust film and TV resource for Apple device owners. Via iTunes you can buy or rent digital content, then hit up iTunes Extra to access any available extras (such as deleted scenes) for the movie or show you’re watching.

Mubi

Cult, classic, independent, world cinema… Just a few of the words used to describe Mubi’s expertly curated collection of films. This high-brow, yet accessible, streaming service will give you plenty to talk about at arty dinner parties. A new film arrives once a day, amping the exclusive feel of the service.

Google Play Movies

Like iTunes there’s no subscription service, but generous discounts regularly feature. Google Play Movies also has an impressive search and recommendation function, making it easy to find content. Throw in compatibility with Chromecast and voice control via Google Home and this becomes a great package.
