Add pools of ambient lighting to accent areas in your home with the best smart LED strip lighting kits
Although Philips’ legacy of requiring a hub for its bulbs continues to serve it well in terms of reliability and smart device compatibility, we can’t help but wince at the combined price for those who have not yet bought into the Hue ecosystem. If this is your first device in the line, you’ll need to invest more than £100 to get up and running. That said, as you might expect for the investment, this well-built strip has skills: the three- LED makeup of each of the light nodes means it manages the best colour range on offer here, though those LEDs are so far apart they’re almost in different postcodes. Depending on your chosen colour, this can make the output a tad uneven. Philips’ mobile app is excellent, offering up the fine control you’d expect, and Hue’s Zigbee support means it’s one of the most well supported platforms out there.
T3 SAYS Three LEDs doesn’t mean three times the range, but it does mean the LightStrip Plus is a master of colour reproduction and customised ambiance.
