Philips Se ries 9000 Prestige £300, Philips.com
The best shaver around has a silly RRP (£430!) but is available for around £300. It’s good for sensitive skin, mows long stubble and is really close to the shave you get from traditional razors.
Philips Se ries 9000 S9211/26 £149, Philips.com
Much cheaper than the Prestige, but with similar superb shaving performance. It doesn’t have the anti-friction coating, and is less adept at longer stubble, but is still brilliant.
Braun Se ries 9 9296CC £327, Braun.com
This is Braun’s best and it’s great if you don’t shave daily. The Braun laughs in the face of threeday growth, and its retractable beard trimmer helps shape what you don’t shave off.
Panasonic ES LV95 £160, panasonic.com/uk
Don’t pay the £330 RRP: this superb wet and dry winner is widely discounted and often available for half the price. At that price it’s a bargain alternative to much dearer premium shavers.
