Terrific TVs
1
SAMSUNG 50AU9000
If you’re looking for a large television without an equally large price, this Samsung is one of the best cheap TVs you can buy. While inevitably some corners have been cut – you’ll want to get yourself a soundbar – the 4K picture quality is superb and the smart TV interface is one of the best. There’s also a smaller 43-inch version for a similar price. £399, very.co.uk

LG C2 OLED
Admittedly we’re not exactly in bargain basement TV territory here, but LG’s OLED is a spectacular TV that’s superb value for money. This isn’t LG’s cheapest OLED – that’s the A2, currently £699 to £899 at this size – but the higher specification C2 has the best balance between price, performance and future-proofing. £1,099, johnlewis.com

SAMSUNG UE43BU8500
This is one of Samsung’s best affordable TVs at any size, and the 43-inch model is a particularly good option for smaller rooms. The image processor delivers vivid, vibrant colours, the superslim display makes the TV almost disappear from the side and it has Samsung’s excellent Smart TV interface. It’s an excellent, affordable all-rounder. £399, johnlewis.com

SAMSUNG QE50QN90A
If you want OLED quality without the associated price, this Samsung Neo QLED display uses miniLED technology to deliver OLED-style contrast with incredible brightness and performance. It’s a great gaming TV thanks to its very low lag and 120Hz refresh rate, and there’s positional audio that delivers a more immersive sound than most similarly slim TVs. £749, samsung.com
