Food meets art in PHUKET

anantara Phuket layan Resort & spa has launched a unique series of dining events that combine gastronomic creations and the creative arts. executive Chef Umberto Piccolini collaborates with thailand’s most intriguing creative talents in art and gastronomy evenings on the last Friday of every month throughout 2015. the first event combined Piccolini’s culinary skill with the artistic talents of five renowned Phuket painters, beginning with a sunset cocktail reception and art exhibition before the main event: a five-course gourmet dinner that blended art and food. the second event was inspired by italian musical composer Gioachino Rossini, with dishes such as stuffed Rigatoni ‘tanti affetti;’ Medallions of Veal ‘Rossini at the Ritz;’ and Baked apple ‘ William tell,’ paired with selected wines, and acoustic renditions of Rossini’s compositions by acclaimed thai-French tenor Yves Baron le tenor.
