On Friday, Sept. 14, Spencer’s Island Bingo will be held at the Advocate Fire Hall at 7 p.m. Come out for an evening of fun! ***
A community luncheon will take place at the Log Building on Mills Road at noon, Tuesday, Sept. 25. On the menu is a turkey dinner with all the trimmings, rolls, pies, tea and coffee. The cost of this luncheon will be $12. Call Gina Neves at 902-3922012 to let her know if you will be attending and to make sure there will be enough food.
Everyone is welcome and it is sponsored by the Advocate and District Development Association.
On Thursday, Sept. 27 come to the Advocate Library for Art Ambush from 3 to 4 p.m. It’s for Grades Primary to 6 and explores your creative side with spontaneous art forms and lots of colour! Please call 902-3922214 for more information. ***
A Community Chorus has been started with practices being held in the Advocate United Church with choir director Elizabeth MacLeod. This will be on Tuesdays at 7 p.m. Anyone interested in singing is welcome. Please pass the message on to everyone. This is a community chorus, not a church choir.
The Downshore Market is now open for the season at the Log Building on Mills Road on Saturday mornings from 9 a.m. to noon. Come and see what the sellers have to offer or have a coffee or tea and meet an old or new friend.
The Spencer’s Island Craft and Farmers’ Market is now open for the season at the Spencer’s Island Community Hall on Sunday afternoons from 1 to 4 p.m.
Trinity United in Parrsboro has not been having summer services but would attend Port Greville’s services at 9:45 at Grace United. The following are dates, and who will be our pulpit supply. Times are 8:30 a.m. at Advocate United and 9:45 at Grace United in Port Greville unless otherwise stated.

The Meals on Wheels program that operates from the Bayview Health Centre is seeing an increase in customers and they now need more volunteers to deliver meals on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.
If you can help with deliveries or would like to receive this service yourself, please call the health centre at 902-392-5400, the kitchen at extension 6035 or the office extension 5402.
