Septem­ber is here and it seems every­one is back to their busy sched­ules of get­ting ready for school, get­ting back into to their fa­vorite sports and fall sure seems to be on its way.

That cer­tainly is not go­ing to stop us from hav­ing a lit­tle fun! We are so ex­cited for our first ‘A Fest, hap­pen­ing from Sept. 13 to 16. This event will be sure to please the whole fam­ily with many fun ex­cit­ing things to par­tic­i­pate in.

The fes­ti­val will start off with an­other amaz­ing night mar­ket on Thurs­day, Sept. 14 from 4 to 9 p.m. It’s a Hodge Podge Mar­ket! Come out and en­joy this mag­i­cal out­door mar­ket, with roam­ing cir­cus per­form­ers, live mu­sic, food and drink fes­ti­val, and an ar­ti­san mar­ket on Ratch­ford Street be­hind Dayles Grand Mar­ket.

You could also plan a girls’ night out on Thurs­day and see the new fall fash­ions from The Cop­per Tree Bou­tique, San Lilies Bri­dal & Ladies Wear, Jay Set, and Hounds of Vin­tage. Tickets are $10. Cock­tails and hors d’ouevres from 6 and the show will start at 7. Tickets by Eventbrite

Join us for a “Fam­ily Date Night” Fri­day, Sept.14 at Dickey Park at 5:30 p.m. The night will start with our open­ing cer­e­mony fol­lowed by live mu­sic by Sec­ond Toe, a corn boil and street hockey hosted by the Ju­nior A Amherst Ram­blers, we also will show an out­door movie at dusk: In­cred­i­bles 2.

Psy­chic medium Michelle Rus­sell will also be here Sept. 14 wow­ing the au­di­ence with her re­mark­able tal­ents. Tickets can be pur­chased at michellerus­sell.ca

On Satur­day, Sept. 15 Amherst is thrilled to sup­port #TDTreeDays. Join us for a plant­ing at E.B Chan­dler/Com­mu­nity Gar­den at 9 a.m. and noon. Sign up to vol­un­teer at tdtreedays.com! This is our fifth year in col­lab­o­ra­tion with TD help­ing to build upon Amherst’s ur­ban for­est.

Also on Sept. 15 from 10:45 a.m. to 4 p.m. we are host­ing a Fam­ily Fun Day at our beau­ti­ful Dickey Park. The event will start off with the Ac­tive Amherst Fam­ily Pa­rade, dress up your bikes, wear your favourite sport jer­seys and come out to cel­e­brate. The day will be filled with fun for the whole fam­ily, we will have live mu­sic by C4 and The Mark Macmil­lian Trio, in­flat­a­bles, a Walk­ing Chal­lenge, a pet­ting zoo, Bub­ble Blitz fun, laser tag, wagon rides and so much more, you don’t want to miss it.

Also, don’t for­get is it the Amherst Ram­blers home opener game on Sept. 15 at the Amherst Sta­dium at 7 p.m. Come out and sup­port the team.

An­nual Terry Fox Run

The An­nual Terry Fox Run will be held at Dickey Park on Sun­day, Sept. 16 at 9 a.m. Come out and walk, run or bike. Every­one is wel­come to par­tic­i­pate in a Terry Fox Run, re­gard­less of age, ath­letic abil­ity or so­cio-eco­nomic stand­ing. While the run does not have an en­try fee or min­i­mum do­na­tion we do ask all par­tic­i­pants to fundraise or do­nate. You can raise funds on­line, use a pledge sheet or do­nate at the run site. What­ever your choice, please know that ev­ery dol­lar counts.

U15 Baseball Cham­pi­onships

Is there more? Yes, there is! Stop by the Robb Com­plex from Sept. 14 to16 to wish good luck to our host team, the Amherst Ban­tam AA Ath­let­ics, in the U15 Baseball At­lantic Cham­pi­onships. Wel­come teams from New­found­land, Prince Ed­ward Is­land, New Brunswick and Nova Sco­tia, best of luck and safe trav­els to all!
