Christie re-elected Amherst’s deputy mayor

Sheila Christie has been re­elected Amherst deputy mayor.

Each year, Amherst se­lects a deputy mayor from among coun­cil and for the third con­sec­u­tive year Christie has been elected over Coun. Terry Rhin­dress, who has served as deputy mayor in the past.

The deputy mayor, who rep­re­sents the mayor when he’s not avail­able, re­ceives $24,375 an­nu­ally, in­clud­ing $16,250 plus $8,125 in ex­penses. A coun­cil­lor re­ceives $21,542, in­clud­ing $14,361 and $7,181 in ex­penses.

The mayor re­ceives $36,447, in­clud­ing a stipend of $24,298 plus $12,150 in ex­penses.
