Richie John Leslie Pye was in court Oct. 16 and given the lesser sentence - a charge of aggravated assault by stabbing and hitting his victim with a hammer. He had originally been charged with attempted murder.

Pye was also given six month concurrent terms for breaching his probation by possessing a weapon while prohibited and abstaining from the use of alcohol or other intoxicating substances.

With a credit for time served in custody leading up to his sentence, he will serve four years, 10 months and 27 days.

The incidents occurred Feb. 8, 2018 in Oxford.
