The Amherst News - - SPORTS / COMMUNITY - BY LION LUKE WARD SPECIAL TO THE AMHERST NEWS

It’s time to help the community again.

The Springhill Lions Club will once again be accepting applications for the Toys For Tots program. Lions will be at the usual spot, 6 MacFarlane St., (behind Foodland) where you can apply, every Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Applications close on Dec. 5 and the pick-up date is Dec. 21 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Please make sure to bring the health cards for the children applied for, as well as proof of income.

We recently laid a wreath during this year’s Remembrance Day ceremony. It’s a somber time, of course, but it’s worth remembering and appreciating the sacrifices of those who have given up so much for our well-being.

A big thank you to everyone who visited us on Halloween night for the Trunk or Treat event. It was great to see some friends out trick-or-treating as well as the inventive costumes out there. We hope everyone had a good time and got a nice haul to bring home!

From the streets:

“I remember the Lions from the past, and the Lions of today, and they sure do a lot of amazing work for our community! The community sure benefits from their membership.” - Anonymous
