Amherst Lioness present service pins to worthy recipients
The Amherst Lioness Club has begun another Lioness year.
Lioness Wendy Small recently inducted the new executive for the coming year.
It was noted that at the closing meeting in June, Carol Bureaux was inducted as a member of the club.
Years of Service Awards were presented to the following Lioness: Kay MacNeil – 50 years; Gwen Briand – 25 years; and Shawnie Kinnear – 10 years.
A letter of resignation was received from Shirley LeBlanc and accepted with regret. Thank you letters were received for donations. A letter from the Lions Drug Awareness committee was read, indicating Drug Awareness Day would involve efforts from the local group. The club provided lunch for the volunteers working at the various booths during Drug Awareness Day that took place at the West Highlands School.
A donation to the Bridge Workshop was also recently discussed. This will be used to assist the clients to travel to events.
A recent meeting saw the following correspondence dealt with: it was moved and seconded that the Lioness would support the Light the Way Campaign by donating monies for a wreath in memory of deceased Lioness. After discussion it was decided the Lioness would attend the Light-up Ceremony at the Cumberland Health Care Centre on Nov. 28.
