Amherst Lioness present ser­vice pins to wor­thy re­cip­i­ents

The Amherst Lioness Club has be­gun an­other Lioness year.

Lioness Wendy Small re­cently in­ducted the new ex­ec­u­tive for the com­ing year.

It was noted that at the clos­ing meet­ing in June, Carol Bureaux was in­ducted as a mem­ber of the club.

Years of Ser­vice Awards were pre­sented to the fol­low­ing Lioness: Kay MacNeil – 50 years; Gwen Briand – 25 years; and Shawnie Kin­n­ear – 10 years.

A let­ter of res­ig­na­tion was re­ceived from Shirley LeBlanc and ac­cepted with re­gret. Thank you let­ters were re­ceived for dona­tions. A let­ter from the Lions Drug Aware­ness com­mit­tee was read, in­di­cat­ing Drug Aware­ness Day would in­volve ef­forts from the lo­cal group. The club pro­vided lunch for the vol­un­teers work­ing at the var­i­ous booths dur­ing Drug Aware­ness Day that took place at the West High­lands School.

A do­na­tion to the Bridge Work­shop was also re­cently dis­cussed. This will be used to as­sist the clients to travel to events.

A re­cent meet­ing saw the fol­low­ing cor­re­spon­dence dealt with: it was moved and sec­onded that the Lioness would sup­port the Light the Way Cam­paign by do­nat­ing monies for a wreath in mem­ory of de­ceased Lioness. Af­ter dis­cus­sion it was de­cided the Lioness would at­tend the Light-up Cer­e­mony at the Cum­ber­land Health Care Cen­tre on Nov. 28.
