A new year with new op­por­tu­ni­ties

I hope you all had a won­der­ful Christ­mas and are look­ing for­ward to a great new year.

What was your favourite part of the hol­i­days?

The days are now get­ting longer and hope­fully spring will be here soon as we’ve al­ready had two months of win­ter be­fore win­ter even be­gan.

It’s en­cour­ag­ing to look for­ward to some up­com­ing fun events.

Spencer’s Is­land Bingo will be held on Fri­day, Jan. 4 at the Ad­vo­cate Fire Hall at 7 p.m. On Satur­day, Jan. 12 an open mike will be held at the fire hall be­gin­ning at 7 p.m.

There will be a can­teen and 50/50 draw. Pro­ceeds are for the Ad­vo­cate & Dis­trict Vol­un­teer Fire Depart­ment.

Also, Tai Chi is be­ing held at Chignecto Manor on Thurs­day evenings at 7.

The Meals on Wheels pro­gram that op­er­ates from the Bayview Health Cen­ter con­tin­ues to see an in­crease in cus­tomers. It still re­quires more vol­un­teers to de­liver meals on Mon­days, Wed­nes­days, and Fri­days. If you can help with de­liv­er­ies or would like to re­ceive this ser­vice, call the health cen­tre at 902-392-5400, the kitchen at extension 6035, or the of­fice extension 5402.

In ad­di­tion, re­mem­ber the Ad­vo­cate United Church ser­vice will be held at the Ad­vo­cate Manor at 8:30 for the win­ter. Sun­day School will be held at Chignecto Manor at 10 a.m. on Sun­days.
