Funding announced for two Labrador West tourism initiatives
Both the White Wolf Snowmobile Club and the Encore Community Arts Association recently received funding from both the provincial and federal governments.
The federal contribution for White Wolf through the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency (ACOA) is valued at $30,000. The provincial contribution is about $15,000.
In terms of the snowmobile club, the funds will be used for infrastructure improvements to a club facility that is needed for day-to-day operations and to ensure safety.
The Encore Community Arts Association received close to $16,000 from the ACOA business development program and just over $5,000 from the provincial government. The funding will go towards equipment and marketing for a heritage theatre production. ‘We built this town: the story of mining in Labrador West’ that went over well with tourists and locals alike in its debut this past summer.
Krista Norman of Encore told The Aurora the equipment allowed them to do a professional, quality production. She noted they will use this to build on an annual production that will improve and hopefully become an integral part of the tourist experience in the area.
Encore Community Arts Association, shown here during their recent show ‘We built this town’ received over $20,000 in funding.
