Annual Gander Invitational draws crowds.
The 14th annual Gander Invitational Ski Meet took place at the Airport Nordic Ski Club from March 24-25.
The first day of races saw 37 freestyle sprinters take part, and 40 racers at the mass start the following day.
The Gander Invitational is part of the Newfoundland & Labrador Cup Series, with freestyle sprints followed by three rounds of “King’s Court” format races. The top skiers in a heat moved ahead, while the remaining skiers dropped back.
Sunday‘s event, a free technique event on a new course, focused on the Gold Trail, done with one to three laps of the 3.15 km course.
The next NL Cup race will be in St. Anthony at the Aurora Ski Club on April 14-15.
