School buses should be equipped with police-style lights

The Beacon Herald - - OPINION - Neil Bednarick, Windsor, Ont.

Regarding the tragic deaths of the three children in Indiana, who were killed last month by a pickup truck as they crossed the road to board a bus — all school buses should be equipped with the same lighting as police, fire and ambulance vehicles. Lights should be on the front, top, sides and rear of buses so they can be seen a mile away. It’s painfully obvious that there is not enough lighting on the busses.

It’s also obvious people are not paying attention to what they are doing. Just recently the car in front of me did not stop. I always stop at least 10 metres away from the bus, as should everyone.
