Baby, let’s ban even more songs

The Beacon Herald - - OPINION - Ken Anderson, Ottawa, Ont.

Regarding Baby, It’s Cold Outside being pulled by Canadian radio stations. Happy Birthday! should be next. It’s ageist, discriminatory towards people who have and haven’t yet had their birthdays, elitist and, of course, totally ignores the scourge of depression that many ages 29+ are forced to endure when it is sung.

Long associated with unhealthy sugar over-consumption, Happy Birthday! is frequently associated with highly dangerous open flames atop calorie-laden cakes which contribute daily to Canada’s obesity crisis. Tell broadcasters (and educators and families) now: No more Happy Birthday!
