Four-goal third pe­riod sparks Braves

The Tav­i­s­tock Braves scored four third-pe­riod goals to pull away in a 7-2 win Fri­day night in Nor­wich.

Drew Gerth scored one of his two goals in the fi­nal frame. Josh Hel­ger­man, Josh Schindler and Tan­ner Johnson also scored in the third, Mitch McKay and Ryan Donat had the other Braves goals.

Chad Brown, Cole Cor­riveau and Tate Hil­liard each had two as­sists. An­thony Nardi made 27 saves.

Si­mon Storoschuk and Blake Pow replied for the Mer­chants. Tyler Gubesch made 24 saves.

Each team went 0-for-3 on the power play, but the Braves scored twice while short­handed.

Tav­i­s­tock (21-2-1-0) re­mains firmly atop the Do­herty Divi­sion head­ing into Satur­day af­ter­noon’s home game against sec­ond-place New Ham­burg.
