Four-goal third period sparks Braves
The Tavistock Braves scored four third-period goals to pull away in a 7-2 win Friday night in Norwich.
Drew Gerth scored one of his two goals in the final frame. Josh Helgerman, Josh Schindler and Tanner Johnson also scored in the third, Mitch McKay and Ryan Donat had the other Braves goals.
Chad Brown, Cole Corriveau and Tate Hilliard each had two assists. Anthony Nardi made 27 saves.
Simon Storoschuk and Blake Pow replied for the Merchants. Tyler Gubesch made 24 saves.
Each team went 0-for-3 on the power play, but the Braves scored twice while shorthanded.
Tavistock (21-2-1-0) remains firmly atop the Doherty Division heading into Saturday afternoon’s home game against second-place New Hamburg.
