The Beacon Herald - - NEWS -

Martina (Inge) Blaine (nee Schmidt) passed away peacefully on January 8, 2019. Born in Jagerndorf, Czechoslovakia on July 10, 1923, her 95 years took her from war-torn Europe to New York, Montreal, Toronto and finally, Stratford, Ont. Her charm and smile captivated all who met her. Her passions included escapes to the cottage in Haliburton, concerts at Roy Thompson Hall, ballroom dancing and her love of Canadian First Nations’ art. Now united with husband Gene and son Chris, and lovingly remembered by sons Tim (Wendy) and Sean (Kirsten), grandkids Dustin, Kyle, Shannon, Nicole, Erin and Leigha, and greatgranddaughters Natalie and Keira, her unconditional love lives on within all of us. The family is forever grateful for the loving, compassionate care of Martha Bauman, Dr. Doug Thompson, Wendy Dunn NP and the many nurses and staff of Greenwood Court. Many thanks to Cindy and the gang at Demetre’s, Bonnie Bell, June Blaine and all of Martina’s previous caregivers at Anne Hathaway Residence and Peoplecare. Family and friends may call on the W.G. Young Funeral Home, 430 Huron St., Stratford, on Thursday, January 17 from 6:30-8 p.m. Funeral ceremony will be held at the funeral home on Friday, January 18 at 2 p.m. with Father Dick Bester officiating (visitation will also take place from 1-2 p.m. prior to the service).
