Funeral service for the late

George Alfred ‘Alfie’ Rogers, 89, Glace Bay, formerly of Heatherton, Antigonish County, was held October 13 in St. Anne’s Church, Glace Bay, with Father Duaine Devereaux officiatin­g. Burial was in the parish cemetery.

Mr. Rogers died October 8, 2018, in Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.

Born in Antigonish, he was a son of the late Freeman and Mary (Rennie) Rogers. He was employed as a lineman for more than 40 years with Nova Scotia Power. He enjoyed sports, especially watching the Toronto Maple Leafs and Toronto Blue Jays, and was a die-hard fan of both clubs. He also enjoyed playing cards, especially, crib.

He is survived by son, Gerald ‘Gerry’ (Gail) Rogers, Port Hood; six grandchild­ren, Kimberly Leblanc (Chris), Bradley Leblanc (Rebecca), Jason Farrell (Janet), Craig Farrell (Nicole) Justin Rogers, Ashli Rogers; two greatgrand­children, Emma Rogers, Jenna Farrell; two sisters, Louise Chisholm, St. Andrews, Antigonish County; Eileen (Earl Turner), Halifax.

He was predecease­d by his wife, Helen (Macgilliva­ry) Rogers; son, George Rogers; two daughters, Norma (Rogers) Farrell, Marie Leblanc; six sisters, Theresa, Helen, Alice, Mary, Caroline, Eileen; three brothers, Louis, Tommy, Freeman John; brother-in-law, John B. Chisholm.

Memorial donations may be made to the Nova Scotia Heart and Stroke Foundation.
