Fu­neral ser­vice for the late Catherine Anne Marie ‘Cathy’ Chisholm, 70, Antigo­nish, was held Oc­to­ber 22 in St. Lawrence Ro­man Catholic Church, Mul­grave, with Fa­ther Alan Mac­phie of­fi­ci­at­ing.

Mrs. Chisholm died Oc­to­ber 19, 2018, in St. Martha’s Re­gional Hos­pi­tal.

Born in Antigo­nish, she was the daugh­ter of Sarah ‘Betty’ (O’neil) De­coste, Mul­grave, and the late Ig­natius O’neil. She and her hus­band moved to Van­cou­ver in 1977, where they set­tled and raised their chil­dren for 25 years. She had an ac­com­plished ca­reer with ICS Courier as ex­ec­u­tive direc­tor of Western Canada and ex­ec­u­tive direc­tor for On­tario, prior to re­tir­ing to Nova Sco­tia in 2008. She en­joyed Cana­dian pol­i­tics and a good de­bate. In re­tire­ment, she en­joyed many trips back to Van­cou­ver to see her fam­ily, grand­chil­dren and friends. Her life­long dream was a trip to Ire­land, which was re­al­ized last year as she trav­elled there with her sis­ter, Moira and brother, Lawrence. She en­joyed mu­sic con­certs, plays and was an avid reader.

Be­sides her mother, she is sur­vived by son, Blaine (Hilary); daugh­ter, April (Jonathan), three grand­chil­dren, Sarah, Justin, Claire; all of Van­cou­ver; 10 broth­ers, Sean (Deb­bie), Ger­ald (Ce­celia), Ray­mond (Carol),

Lawrence (Denise), Cor­mack, Bernard (Sun Ae), Fran­cis (Pa­tri­cia), Adrian (Jacquie), all of Nova Sco­tia; An­thony (Heather) Ed­mon­ton; Den­nis (Veron­ica) Yel­lowknife; sis­ter, Moira (Clarey) Ten­nessee; sis­ter-in-law, Noel O’neil, Mul­grave; aunt, Phyllis O’don­nell CSM, Antigo­nish; De­coste step sib­lings; Chisholm broth­ers and sis­ters-in-law; many nieces and neph­ews; friend, Peter Watts, Van­cou­ver.

She was pre­de­ceased by her hus­band, Neil; step­fa­ther, Bernard De­coste; two broth­ers, Michael Allen, in in­fancy, Phillip.
