Mixed re­sults for lo­cal mi­nor hockey teams

In re­cent Antigonish mi­nor hockey ac­tion, the ban­tam ‘A’ fe­male Bull­dogs won big; 9-1 over Western Rip­tide ‘Green,’ in a game played in Antigonish Nov. 17.

The ban­tam ‘AA’ Bull­dogs split a pair of close games ver­sus Western Val­ley dur­ing the same week­end.

In game one, the Bull­dogs won 6-5, while Western Val­ley took the sec­ond con­test 5-4.

Scor­ing for Antigonish in the con­tests was Daniel Chi­as­son with three goals, Jack Macdon­ald and Lo­gan Mcgrath with two each, and sin­gles by Colin Smith, Da­mon Macdon­ald and An­drew Mur­ray.

The atom ‘AA Bull­dogs had the same 50 per cent suc­cess rate in a pair of league games, played on home-ice.

On Satur­day (Nov. 17), they de­feated Yar­mouth 5-2, with goals by Ken­dall Do­iron, Ai­den Bowie, Will Chisholm and two off the stick of Colby Fleet.

The fol­low­ing day, they lost to West Hants by the score of 7-4. Do­iron and Chisholm scored again while Ben Ka­vanaugh and Dun­can An­der­son also found the back of the net for the Bull­dogs.

The re­gional Fundy High­land ban­tam ‘AA’ Sub­way Se­lects suf­fered their first league loss dur­ing the week­end, while also record­ing a tie. Both games were played on the road.

On Satur­day, Metro West Force ‘Blue’ edged the Se­lects 2-1 with Olivia Fitt scor­ing her team’s lone goal, as­sisted by Bail­lie Grif­fon.

It was an­other low-scor­ing af­fair

Sun­day as the Se­lects tied Metro East In­ferno ‘Black’ 1-1. Erin Mac­neil scored the Se­lects’ goal while Gabby Arse­nault pro­vided solid goal­tend­ing in both con­tests.

The Se­lects record now stands at 5-1-1, earn­ing them sec­ond place in league stand­ings.
