Funeral service for the late Donald Hugh Macgilliva­ry, 78, Glendale, Inverness County, was held November 23 in St. Mary of the Angels Roman Catholic Church, Glendale, with Father Conrad Edwards officiatin­g. Burial was in the parish cemetery.

Mr. Macgilliva­ry died November 18, 2018, in Strait Richmond Hospital, Evanston.

Born in Glace Bay, he was a son of the late Angus and Christina (Maceachern) Macgillivr­ay. He worked in forestry for many years as a porter operator.

He is survived by two daughters, Janet (David) Degano, Bradford, Ontario; Margaret Ann (John) Macrae, Lantz; three sons, Angus A. (Annette), Dundee; Brennan (Lucy), Sheldon, both of Antigonish; 10 grandchild­ren, Jake, Alley, Ethan, Eric, Cameron, Logan, Breagh, Ceilidh, Shalena, Gabrielle; three brothers, John Alex (Cathy), Lively, Ont.; D.J. (Catherine), Mull River; Francis, Glendale; two sisters, Rose Mary (Dave) Doucet, Sydney; Evelyn (David) Burns, Troy; two sistersin-law, Rachel Macgillivr­ay, Glendale; Betty Macgillivr­ay, Calgary; brother-in-law, Alfred Leblanc, Glendale.

He was predecease­d by his wife, Mary (O’brien); five brothers, Lawrence Alexander, in infancy; Sam, Lawrence, Leonard, Ron; sister, Catherine Anne Leblanc; two sisters-in-law, Mabel Macgillivr­ay, Barbara Macgillivr­ay.

Memorial donations may be made to St. Mary’s Cemetery Fund or to the Canadian Cancer Society.
