Fu­neral ser­vice for the late Fa­ther An­gus Rod­er­ick Mor­ris, 81, Port Hood, was held Novem­ber 28 in St. Peter’s Church, Port Hood, with Bishop Brian Dunn of­fi­ci­at­ing, as­sisted by Fa­ther Eu­gene Mor­ris and priests of the Dio­cese of Antigo­nish. Burial will be held at a later date.

Fa­ther Mor­ris died Novem­ber 24, 2018, in In­ver­ness Con­sol­i­dated Me­mo­rial Hospi­tal.

Born on De­cem­ber 17, 1936, he was a son of the late Florence (Macdonald) and Pa­trick Mor­ris, Colin­dale. Fa­ther An­gus was hon­ored to share his birth date with Pope Fran­cis. He be­gan his ed­u­ca­tion in Colin­dale School, then at­tended Port Hood Academy. Af­ter high school, he worked for sev­eral years in farm­ing and fish­ing with his fa­ther. He also ex­pe­ri­enced work in the mines in El­liot Lake, On­tario. In 1958, he be­gan a B.A. pro­gram at St. F. X. Af­ter his grad­u­a­tion in 1962, he en­tered the Eud­ist Sem­i­nary in Hal­i­fax and was or­dained a pri­est by Bishop Wil­liam Power on May 19, 1966.Through­out most of the 52 years of his priest­hood, Fa­ther An­gus served in var­i­ous parishes in the Dio­cese of Antigo­nish. For seven years, he worked in the Latin Amer­i­can Apos­to­late in Hon­duras. He was gifted with a great fa­cil­ity for re­call­ing peo­ple’s names which was much ap­pre­ci­ated, es­pe­cially by the el­derly and youth. Fa­ther An­gus was gifted with a spe­cial love for the sick and shut-ins and spent many hours min­is­ter­ing to them. He was also blessed with a beau­ti­ful gift of mu­sic which he shared with peo­ple of all ages. He was proud to di­rect The Cape Bre­ton Fid­dlers for a pe­riod of time. He had a great sense of hu­mour and en­joyed shar­ing stories with his friends. His abil­ity for de­liv­er­ing the Gospel mes­sage in a con­cise way was a gift rec­og­nized by his con­gre­ga­tions. He cher­ished be­ing a pri­est and was most thank­ful to God for be­ing cho­sen to fol­low Je­sus in this most spe­cial call­ing.

He is sur­vived by three sis­ters, Cather­ine, CND, Sydney; Mary, CND, Hal­i­fax; Teresa (John vanzut­phen), Port Hood; two broth­ers, Fa­ther Eu­gene, Harbour

View; Joseph (Mary Ma­clel­lan), Port Hood; many nieces, neph­ews, grand-nieces and grand­nephews.

He was pre­de­ceased by sis­ter, Lo­ranna Chisholm (Bill); five broth­ers, Alexan­der (Cather­ine), Hugh (Terry); three, in in­fancy.
