Balanced attack keys tournament win for Royals

The Dr. John Hugh Gillis Regional Royals Division 2 boys’ basketball team captured their second tournament title of the new season.

In the championsh­ip game at Hants North Rural High, Nicholas Dayman of the Royals finished with a double-double – 28 points and 18 rebounds – in a 99-68 victory over the host Hants East Tigers.

Anthony Sears finished with 18 points and five rebounds, while Martin Puga Sieiro added 16 points and five rebounds.

Leo Grenier and Nathan Dayman chipped in 13 and 10 points, respective­ly, while Dayman contribute­d six steals.

The Royals opened the tournament with a 105-48 win over the Bridgetown Hawks.

Puga Sieiro led five players in double figures, with 20 points, while adding five assists and five steals.

Nicholas Dayman finished with a double-double – 19 points and 15 rebounds – along with seven assists and six steals.

Nathan Dayman added 18 points and five rebounds; Sears, 16 points, six rebounds and seven steals; and Cole Macdonald, 11 points and seven re bounds.

In a 68-58 victory over the host Flames, Nathan Dayman had 23 points and five steals, with Nicholas Dayman adding 20 points and eight rebounds.
