Two die in Highway 104 crash in Pictou County
Two people died and one was seriously injured in a two-vehicle collision on the morning of Dec. 16 near Broadway in Pictou County.
At approximately 10 a.m., RCMP responded to a collision between a 2012 Ford F150 and a 2005 Chevrolet Silverado on Highway 104 between Exits 27 and 29.
EHS and Barneys River and District Fire Department also responded. Police found two men, both dead, in the Silverado, a 69-year-old driver from Millertown, Newfoundland, and a 61-year-old passenger from Buchans, Newfoundland.
The driver and lone occupant of the F150, a 61-year-old man from Tantallon, were transported by Lifeflight to hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries.
Both lanes of the highway were temporarily closed to traffic and reopened that evening. The investigation is ongoing.
The portion of highway where the accident occurred is untwinned.
The federal government has announced a project will begin next summer to twin 38 kilometres of the highway between Sutherland's River, Pictou Co. and Antigonish.
