Fu­neral ser­vice for the late John Robert ‘Bob’ Caughey, 70, Lake­vale, was held De­cem­ber 20 in St. Columba Church, Lake­vale, with Fa­ther An­drew Boyd of­fi­ci­at­ing.

Mr. Caughey died at De­cem­ber 15, 2018 home.

Read­ers at the fu­neral Mass were Yvette Mac­don­ald and

Linda Macgillivray. Eucharistic min­is­ter was Tr­ish Mac Don­ald. Mu­sic was pro­vided by John Pel­lerin.

Pall­bear­ers were pro­ces­sional lead Cor­po­ral Shan­non Fear, mem­bers of RCMP hon­our guard, son Daniel Caughey, step­son David Mac Gil­livray, re­tired RCMP col­leagues Cpl. Robert Wal­ton and Con­sta­ble Tim Ni­chol­son, friends Lloyd Jewkes and Chet Chisholm.

Born in Pem­broke, On­tario, he was the el­dest child of the late Ce­celia and John Christo­pher Caughey. A rebel from an early age, he quit school at re­cess the first day of grade 1, went home and de­manded to go to the

French School. His bilin­gual ed­u­ca­tion pre­pared him for a com­bined 45 year ca­reer as an MP in the Cana­dian Forces and later as a mem­ber of the Royal Cana­dian Mounted Po­lice. Re­tir­ing five years ago, he ex­plored the world by train, plane and boat - trav­el­ling to Ger­many, Aus­tria, Scot­land, Eng­land, Bar­ba­dos, The Rhine, The Danube, the Caribbean, Alaska and many places in-be­tween, his most re­cent trav­els to the Nor­we­gian Fjords and his an­ces­tral home of Ire­land. He was an avid hunter and fish­er­man. He spent timein many hockey are­nas, base­ball fields and 4H barns with his chil­dren. He be­came their life­long coach coach­ing his son through hockey and ball and daugh­ter with her goats, lambs and puppy classes

He is sur­vived by his wife, Terry Penny; her chil­dren Lind­sey (Kris Gard­ham) Mac Gil­livray, Toronto; David (Kristina) Macgillivray, Lake­vale; his daugh­ter, Vic­to­ria (Darcy) Blan­chard, New­found­land; their son Tommy and his two chil­dren; his son, Daniel (Me­gan Ryan) Caughey, Stittsville, ON; his daugh­ter, Lori (Rev An­drew) Mac­don­ald, Why­co­co­magh, and their beau­ti­ful daugh­ters, Natalie and Brid­get; sis­ter, Jane (Har­ri­son) Far­rell; brother, David (Karen) Caughey, both of Pem­broke, ON; sis­ter-in­law, Diane Caughey, Pem­broke; nieces and neph­ews, Kevin, Ian, Christo­pher and Mandy.

He is also sur­vived by his adopted Penny fam­ily; fa­ther-in­law Gor­don Penny, Antigo­nish; three sis­ters-in law, Pa­tri­cia, Su­san, Anne Marie Penny; two broth­ers-in-law, Michael and

Mark Penny.

He was pre­de­ceased by brother, Sammy.
