Funeral service for the late Mary Bernice Larade, 93, was held December 22 in St. Peters Roman Catholic Church, St Peters.

Mrs. Larade died December 18, 2018, at home.

Born August 23, 1925, in Sampsonvil­le, she was the daughter of the late Mary Alice (Fougere) and Ammable (Mabbie) Landry. She became a widow at a young age when her husband, Joseph Larade, passed away in 1965. She enjoyed playing TV bingo and pull tab tickets. For many years she knitted ‘lopi’ sweaters, slippers and mittens. At the age of 85, she started travelling and took her first trip to British Columbia to visit grandchild­ren and great-grandchild­ren, which she made an annual tradition for a few years.

She is survived by three sons, Peter (Catherine), Paul (Diane), Wade, all of Sampsonvil­le; five daughters, Audrey (Dolphie) Comeau, Yarmouth; Muriel (Allan Sampson), L’ardoise; Lydia Mombourque­tte, Sampsonvil­le; Sheila (Jimmy) Clarke; special daughter, Mary Clarke, with whom she lived for many years; 14 grandchild­ren; 25 great-grandchild­ren; two greatgreat-grandchild­ren; sister, Bertha Carter; brother, Cecil Landry; special childhood friend, Shirley Carter.

She was predecease­d by her husband, Joseph; two daughters, Mary, in infancy; Mary Alice

‘Allie’ Larade; grandson, Zachary Saulnier, at birth; sister, Janet Larade; brother, Ray Landry.

Memorial donations may be made to the St. Peter’s and Area Food Bank Society or the Richmond Villa Activity Department.
